Support in a safe, private and confidential group

Most parents put the needs of their child first.  Parents of children with Additional Needs have even less time and energy to focus on their own physical and mental health & wellbeing.

CBS aim to shine the light on parental mental health and alleviate some of the problems by offering parent led respite activities, specialised counselling and wellbeing workshops, such as, relaxation techniques, yoga and mindfulness addressing stress and anxiety.

Parents’ Guide to the Galaxy – A six week long series of workshops and information sessions to encourage parental self-care and emotional well-being.

Week 1: Stress and Anxiety workshop – Includes: The effects stress has on the body, functions of the brain (fight flight and freeze), to encourage self-care and ways to reduce stress and anxiety.

Week 2: Bath bomb making workshop – Relaxation and self-care. Take home 6 to 10 bath bombs made by you so the self-care can continue!

Week 3: Nutrition – With a dietitian  providing practical guidance to help parents make appropriate, healthy choices to achieve better mental health and well-being for themselves and their families.

Week 4: Mindfulness – Introduction – Simple yoga poses, mindfulness and deep breathing for the busy parent/carer! Short exercises with a view that these can be used in your daily life without it taking your precious time.

Week 5: Crafts – Wood burning workshop providing you with relaxation and the opportunity to learn a new skill.

Week 6: Relaxation – To provide much needed pampering and time out with, Indian head massage, reflexology and manicures on offer.

Celebration – The 6-week programme culminates with an indulgent afternoon tea, when we celebrate our success alongside our newfound friendships.
